Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Did you know there's a kite-flying park in Kepong? Taman Metropolitan Baru / Kepong Metropolitan Park has a thriving community of kite flyers. Something I discovered as I circled the crowded carpark hunting for a free spot.

I was there for the Breast Cancer Welfare Association's "Fly a kite for breast cancer awareness" campaign. The "Pink Angel" kites were on sale for RM10 - which went to the BCWA. I thought the idea was just so adorable I had to go.

The kite. I thought it adorable, and in this one case, I don't mind pink ^_^

It took three tries and determined effort on the part of friends but we FINALLY got my kite up high. My theory of kite flying is to get it up high as quickly as possible by running and creating wind resistance, jerking it and releasing more string. That's my string, can you spot my kite? It was one of the few that made it all the way up! =D

The eagle kite was gorgeous to watch
All in all, it was a fun outing but kite flying is an activity that needs space and a crowded park is counterproductive. Am determined to learn to fly a kite flawlessly one day.

Anyone here got any kite flying tips?
