So it may be a bit delayed of me to say this, considering these two trends have been around, like, forever, but I am really coveting a military-style jacket like those in the usual high-street stores like Topshop and Forever21, and (more!) nautical stripes.
Now, on principal that almost everyone within my demographic shops at these two stores, I’m a bit hesitant to buy anything there in the event that someone might rock up at the same event/place at me wearing the same thing.
Yes, of all things to be preoccupied with—what can I say, I’m strange that way. But anyway, this fear is part of the reason why I love vintage shopping (or to be accurate, loved—I think I liked it better when fewer people thrift-shopped, now all these generic floral dresses are being worn all over the place!).

Anyway, I digress—I absolutely love the clean, simple lines of military and navy-inspired jackets and tops (as seen here and here). Like studded shoes and belts (again, that are everywhere of late), pieces traditionally associated with masculinity look even girlier and cuter when worn by chicks, especially when paired with soft, floaty, sherbert-coloured things.
I just can’t make up my mind what I might eventually cave in and buy, although I think I’m leaning towards a jacket (I know, boooo-ring!). What trends are you leaning towards at present, dear reader?

I'm with you on this. I've been coveting a certain red military jacket for months, and now that winter is almost here, there's no better time to get one :P
I'm into a lot of fine woolen knitwear this year. No more acrylic crap (like the one I tweeted about). It's a bloody health hazard, I tell you! Thanks to Country Road's 30% sale, I snagged two merino sweaters. I'm going to get a couple more. Layerable, versatile stuff. Won't go out of style :P
I love my cardigans too, I want to have one in every shade possible, eventually! :D
But there's just something about the military jackets that just do it for me, but so far I haven't liked any one enough to buy it. I agree with you that one in red would look mighty sexy--where are you eyeballing this? :)
I escaped the military trend - probably because I'm already accused of being a field marshall personality type... but I'm currently hankering after vintage tan-leather accessories. I blame Roman Holiday for the tan shoes craving and ParisB of mywomenstuff.com for the satchel madness!
