Like I've mentioned in previous posts, I have a polka dot obsession. Just something about the classic print that brings me back to the 1950's women, with their pinup curves and gorgeous swing dresses. From shoes to purses, to hairclips and earrings, I have quite the dotty collection.
Here are polka dots in my favourite of all forms, a dress!
I took a day trip down to Indianapolis about two weeks ago for Spring break. Sure, a Jamaican cruise or a Florida sandcastle sounds tons better...but what's a girl to do when she's trying her best to save up for her annual trip back to homeland Malaysia?
You know, it wasn't that bad at all. My number one reason for going to the bigger city wasn't to shop. It was to have a yummyluscious lunch at the amazing Cheesecake Factory. Mm-mmm, and they had over 10 different flavors. Personally, my favourite is the pumpkin, but it's only available in Fall. However, I did not complain devouring the artistry that was the Banana Cream cheesecake! They also have some 7-layer chocolate cake called the "Blackout"...but that's for another trip in my shiny red shoes.
I was pretty disappointed to find out the huge Forever21 store downtown did not have anything I fancied except for a couple of cheap accessories like the chiffon flower clips I'm wearing. But hey Kahani, I totally forgot the mall had an H&M store! And that's where my dress comes from. I did not want to purchase it at first, but I pointed out a small fixable defect on the dress straps and the cashier gave me 20% off, yay!
What prints set your heart aflutter? :)
Shoes - Target US$12
Chiffon flower clips - Forever21 US$1.50
Clutch - Aldo US$7

Rey: YAY for H&M! And you certainly rock that dress - very flamenco with the bag!
Plue: I think sometimes them flaws you talk about exist only in your head lah.
Alex: Oooh SO DOROTHY! =D Btw here's a link to the pics of Alex's shoes - hers is a wee bit hard to click.
*grumbles mumbles*
but Kahani, it does exist, those flaws. must find a way to stop thinking bout them.
I ADORE the dress, Rey! Love the frills and almost corset-ish looking top. And as you'd be well aware, we Frocking girls love our splashes of red for colour ;)
Plue: Nobody was born perfect--you're wonderful just the way you are!
Plue: Maybe I'm good w/ flattering angles! I've been talked smack all my life about my flaws. What gives others the right to decide what qualifies as our flaws? We think you're lovely!
Alex: Custom made shoes in Msia? Wah! Price range?
Mel and Kahani: Lol, a lil bit of Meldee frills and a splash of Kahani red!
PLue: I've SEEN you you crazy woman. I know you're pretty!
Rey: Well there is no denying you're one fierce poser! Hahah so polka dots are Rey's, Frills & Bows are Mel and Red accessories are me. Voila, we can now form a crimefighting girl trio...
Love this! You look like a flamenco dancer who decided to keep the drama without the long skirt.
Had this leather pair done for RM120 at Hong Kong Shoe Store, 177 Muntri Street, Penang (same row as Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion), Tel: 04-2614695
You'll need to be patient though, depending on their backlog; mine took two months! Some pop trivia: Jimmy Choo purportedly apprenticed here!
And your suspicions are right. Custom shoemaking is a sunset industry in Malaysia :(
